“There are those who think that all the ebulli were originally reflections of a primal one,” said Darl, “whether or not that was your Earth. Lots of ebulli claimed theirs to be first, while some people think at the center of it all is the original bubble, but that the barriers are too thick to pass.”

“Or that it collapsed long ago,” added Menlo, “consumed by fire or drowned in water.”

Darl spoke, “But lately the bubbles have been changing, some growing, but more shrinking. Some of the smaller ones are ripping into each other. No one knows why.”
